Travel Day
*The start time for each hike is listed as the time we will leave the house. If you are planning on meeting as at the trail head please let us know. Directions will be available for all hikes. I am not a hiking guide. You are welcome to hike with me, at your own risk. I will be following the marked trails at the four locations listed below. Due to weather and erosion trails and difficulty may change from year to year.
PLEASE CAR POOL Parking is limited at every hiking site and there is a parking fee at every site. Carpooling will save everyone time and money. We will not begin the hike until everyone has found a spot.
Retreat Hikes
For every hike we will use the same trail to travel up and down. If at any point you decide that you do not want to continue, you may stop and find a place to rest. We will pick up on our way back. If you do this, we ask that you do not move from this spot unless you have told us you are heading back to the base. Do not travel alone. If you choose to return to the trail head or hike without the group please tell us and bring a friend, a cell phone and a first aid kit.
Service is not very good in most of the areas that we are hiking in, but in case of an emergency it is a good idea to have a cell phone with you. Please store my cell phone number in your phone, Call 911 FIRST in an emergency.

Airport Mesa
Description
Level- Easy/Moderate- This is a very short hike. Some areas may be a little steep. Please ask for assistance if you need help through the steeper parts. This is the best view of Sedona.
Bell Rock
Description
Level- Moderate/Difficult- This first part of this hike is moderate. There is a great place to stop and rest halfway through. You will have the option to continue for the more challenging part of the hike or stop at the rest point and wait for the group to return.
Boyton Canyon
Description
Level- Easiest- This hike does not have much of an incline, but you will need to keep your eyes on the trail. There is a lot of uneven surface to the trail. Like rocks and roots.
Cathedryl Rock
Description
Level- Most Difficult- If you are not up for a challenging hike then join us for the meditation, which we will do at the beginning of the hike at this location. There is also some short walking trails and a beach. You are welcome to hang out to lounge and swim at Buddha Beach while we hike Cathedryl Rock. This hike involves crossing a stream at the start. Many parts of this hike will involve climbing with both hands and both feet. This hike is physically challenging. Bring a lot of water!
Recommended List of What to Wear/Bring
All Hikes
- Hiking boots
- Hiking poles optional- Many guests find them helpful.
- ·Water- more than you think you need. The dessert is hot and dry. You will be surprised by how much you drink. I would recommend 2 water bottles per person for every hike. The only exception is airport mesa. You will me fine with one. The Red Rock Park Rangers recommend one liter of water per person for every hour you plan on hiking.
- Towel- The Red Rocks will leave a thick coat of red dust on your clothing. You may want to bring something to sit on, especially for our meditations. A folded towel will also make sitting for an extended amount of time more comfortable.
- ·Backpack- One for two people is fine and it is helpful to have the option to switch off, so you can give each other a break. You will need two hands, so totes and shoulder bags are not recommended.
- Small Snack
- Cell phone- please put my number in it, but call 911 first in the case of an emergency
- First aid kit
Cathedryl Rock- Recommended
- Water Shoes- The first part of our hike involves crossing a stream that moves fast. We will look for a shallow place to cross, but the water moves quickly and the rocks are VERY slippery. Water shoes will be appreciated. They are light, cheap and easy to pack, so bring them. You will be happy you did.
- ·Bathing suit (Optional)- Feel free to wear or bring a bathing suit. There is no place to change, but there is a place to swim. You can also choose to just dip your feet in.
